Musician Bio

I've been a musician forever and have spent most of my career onstage, although not only as a musician. My first job (in the late 70's) was Music Director for a circus themed children's theater company in Providence, Rhode Island. I wrote and performed funny and poignant songs to accompany our show. I teamed up with another performer, Mr. Wheeler Cole, and together we created a vaudeville act called The High Street Circus, combining comedy, circus skills and music. We relocated to San Francisco, and High Street Circus took off, winning the San F Francisco Street Performers Competition in 1983, the Premio Strada Street Performing Competition (Milano, Italy) in 1986, and receiving the Key to The City of Osaka, Japan in 1987, on one of our half dozen trips to Japan.

After High Street Circus ended in 1997, I began a career in video production, creating short format videos for companies, non-profits and private clients. I wrote and recorded soundtracks for many of these short films. In the early 2000's I created a multimedia/ storytelling show, with projected photos and videos, storytelling and live music, about my High Street Circus career. I performed "The Road to High Street" (2010- 2015) at Fringe Festivals around the country, including San Francisco, Portland ME, Washington DC, and Hollywood CA.

In 2018, I reconnected with my old vaudeville cohort, Wheeler Cole, and we began songwriting together. We created a series of songs leaning on my syncopated finger-style guitar work, and Mr. Cole's poignant lyrics. I quickly realized, thematically, an album was in the works. I recorded my guitar work and vocals in the studio, and then invited other musicians to augment. The results were amazing, with a rhythm section, electric guitars, jazz mandolin, keyboards, slide trombone and Irish Uilleann Pipes to round out my sound. The album, I Haunt My Own House is available on CD and Bandcamp.

Continuing my songwriting with Mr. Cole, our next album will feature ten new songs written on piano. Stay tuned...
